Broad Valley Orchard Publications
Broad Valley Orchard Publications is evolving. Another book and CD are in production. A BANJO PICKIN’ GIRL – The Life and Music of Ola Belle Campbell Reed is available on July 1, 2001. For more information firstname.lastname@example.org. I learned to play an old style of clawhammer banjo from Ola Belle Campbell Reed who grew up in the mountains of North Carolina in the early part of the 1900’s. With her and her family’s permission I wrote her biography, which is a marriage of stories and music. In it I have a number of her compositions, and some of the traditional songs she sang, complete with music, words and banjo tablature.
A companion music CD titled Waiting for the Day will be available soon after. Waiting for the Day will have several banjo tunes I learned from Ola Belle, as they are in the music section of the book.
GETTIN’ BY – Make Your Farm Dream Into Your Dream Farm
When we decided to write our book, the flood gates burst. We realized that we had an awful lot to say. Thom has found his place in the universe as a blogger, and you can see what I mean by going to his Broad Valley Orchard Farm Journal & Almanac post (page on this site). Because we self-published the book and because it was a biography of a small farm, we decided that we would list it as a farm publication. To learn more about GETTIN’ BY – Make Your Farm Dream Into Your Dream Farm go to that page on this site.
I then decided to put out a CD of a number of my own songs. You can read all about my music CD called GETTIN’ BY – Certified Naturally Grown Music by going to that page on this site.
Thom has started his website book about the recipes he loves. These are his beer, wine, hard cider, and horseradish sauce recipes. He will tell you all about it soon on this website.
I expect that there may be more in the future. Just keep checking back for updates.
